4 Reasons We Just Pre-Ordered John Green’s New Book, Turtles All the Way Down, So Fast Our Laptop Ignited
Have you recovered from the news? If your heart can take it, let’s talk about why we’re all pre-ordering John Green‘s Just! Announced! New! Book!, Turtles all the Way Down, right this very minute.
1. Set to be his first release since 2012’s bestselling heartbreaker The Fault in Our Stars, Turtles has been sprung suddenly and thrillingly upon us, like a life-changing road trip upon an unsuspecting summer breaker. And it’s coming out on October 10, meaning we have FEWER THAN FOUR MONTHS TO GO.
2. “It all begins with a fugitive billionaire and the promise of a cash reward.” Turtles promises to have all the elements that have made Green’s work so beloved, including deep friendships, sharp observations, nerd culture, and a character, in this case Aza Holmes, who is prey to her own thought processes. (And this time he’s adding tuatara for good measure.)
3. The book’s epic title is a reference to the cosmological idea that Earth is flat, and carried on the back of a turtle (sometimes referred to as the “World Turtle”)—and as for what that turtle is standing on, it’s “turtles all the way down.” A version of the notion’s origins appears anecdotally in Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time, and the concept has been referenced by authors ranging from Terry Pratchett to Dr. Seuss.
4. WE WANT IT GIVE IT TO US OMG
Turtles all the Way Down hits shelves and our eager hands October 10, and is available for pre-order now.
