The Perfect Candidate

In a small Saudi town, a young female doctor (Nora Al Awadh) defies the status quo and the deeply rooted patriarchal attitudes of her community by running for office in the municipal council elections with the intent of passing policies that will improve her struggling clinic. Her decision not only affects herself and her family but her community at large in a wider commentary on social taboos and gender relations. Written and directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour.
