Terror Beset

In 1848 Lord Franklin sailed from England in two ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror to seek a the North West Passage to India via the North Pole. It was the most advanced expedition of it's time, supplied with all the latest equipment and technology, including steam engines to drive them through the ice and enough tinned food to last three years.
Franklin was a highly experienced explorer having made two previous trips to the Arctic.
Both ships became trapped in the ice and were lost without trace for the next 150 years. The Government of the day offered a £10,000 reward for information, and Franklin's wife spent the next ten years and her family fortune seeking word of her husband.
Recently the Canadian Government exhumed the bodies of three of the crew from the ships, they were almost perfectly preserved due to the permafrost, and it is believed they died of lead poisoning from the solder used in their tinned food. The Canadians also believe they have found one of the ships from the expedition far to the south of their last known position, just as I predicted.
I published this book in March 2015 just before that discovery was announced, but many of the facts are still unknown. I have always been fascinated by the story and was moved to write my own explanation of the story.

'Terror Beset'.
During a trans polar flight, a marine journalist sees an old sailing ship trapped in the ice. Thinking there might be a story there, he decides to investigate and stumbles upon a mystery that has lain unsolved for over 150 years.
The ship turns out to be HMS Terror, which disappeared with Lord John Franklin and her entire crew while trying to discover the North West Passage in 1845. The ship is filled with artifacts and they find Franklin's Journal which explains what has befallen them.
An early thaw leaves the journalist and his companions trapped on the ice and struggling to survive just like Franklin and his crew.
