The Miracle Worker of Mingo County

The waters of Buffalo Creek rose without mercy or warning. Homes, lives, faith—all gone in an instant. In the aftermath of that catastrophic flood, despair swept through the mountains. But from the ruins emerged a man they would come to call the Miracle Worker of Mingo County.

Through his own recordings and journals, and the voices of those who knew him best, meet Brother Michael Journeyman Cooper, a beacon for the downtrodden and a thorn in the side of the powerful.

Step into the mountains. Hear the call of hope.

This story will take you deep into the hollers, where serpents are handled with conviction, where coal mines claim lives and dreams, and where faith is not just believed—it's lived.
