A Second Waltz: Second-chance emotional romance

The Aurelia Theater had stood dark and boarded on Marrow Street for eleven years when the town council finally found the money to save it, and Mira Ellison had never once let herself walk past it without crossing to the other sidewalk. She had danced her last full performance on that stage before the accident that ended her career, and she had loved, before that, a boy named Caleb Reyes in the wings behind its velvet curtain — loved him enough that losing both the stage and him in the same terrible year had nearly undone her completely.
She did not expect, eight years later, to find him standing in the Aurelia's gutted lobby with a set of blueprints under his arm and a look on his face like a man bracing for a door to slam. The town had hired a contractor to rebuild the theater from the studs up. Nobody had told her it would be Caleb. And nobody — least of all Mira herself — could have predicted that rebuilding a broken building might be the thing that finally taught them both how to rebuild everything else they'd let fall into disrepair.
