Book Two of the "Alto Group, Mercenaries at Large"
Limping back home after daring the might of Imperial Japan to deliver weapons to Wake Island and rescue 400 civilians, the Alto Group try to settle in to build more of their huge transports for Pan American Airways new military contract air freight operation and direct sale to the US military. Using a cross country test flight of a new six engine "Giant" freighter to deliver their first shipment of components to Ford Motor Company's B-24 Liberator plant resulted in General George Kenny getting to fly their plane. They shrug off the incident.....until two months later when Kenny calls them. Kenny has taken command of the most battered rag-tag unit in the Far East, the American 5th Air Force. Conventional help and reinforcements aren't coming, so the unconventional Alto Group is.
