The Color of Emily's Eyes

When is a love story not a romance? When it involves Emily Kincannon, the geekiest viola prodigy of all time, and Ray Altieri, her high school science lab partner, who spends most of his free time keeping her from getting beaten up by bullies. After graduation they go their separate ways, until Emily returns to her hometown to reconnect with Ray. Unfortunately, he's gotten married, so Emily devotes herself to music. Years later, again threatened, she once more turns to Ray. This could be the chance they've been waiting for, but with the addition of a police officer with movie-star good looks, an egotistical cellist, a reclusive old lady, and an unexpected inheritance, can the nerdy girl who plays an instrument everyone confuses with a violin and the cynical Chicago cop find true happiness?
