The Pastor, The Professor, The Pauper, and The Tree

Hope was pregnant, and in rural West Virginia, that was a scary thing. Everyone at school and in the community knew about it. Her boyfriend wanted her to keep the baby. Her mother felt the same. Should she have an abortion, or should she have the baby? Maybe adoption? Didn't she have the right to put her own dreams and goals first? It was all so confusing. Maybe if she took some time to think at her favorite maple tree, she could make a decision. Instead, what she discovered would change her life forever. Something completely unexpected.
