From What Struggle We Eat: An eight-month experience: Laboring in the cause of the United Farm Workers of America with Cesar Chavez 1974

Cesar Chavez was a man of courage, humility and had amazing inner strength. His life cannot be measured in material terms. He never earned more than $5,000 a year and never owned a house. As he said though sums up his whole life. 'It is possible to become discouraged about the injustice we see everywhere. But God did not promise us the world would be humane and just. God gives us the gift of life and allows us to choose the way we use our limited time on earth. It is an awesome responsibility."
