Photojournalist Grace Winterson arrives late for a Friday evening in London with her roguish, fun-loving partner Simon, at his friend’s inner city apartment. She finds him settling in for beers and Indian takeaway with the motley crew of warm, friendly men she has grown increasingly fond of - all of them ex-military, well-built types with a liking for adventure.
Tired after a week’s work, Grace finds herself energised by the men’s attentions – a charming blend of respectful and mildly flirty. Pleased to see her and aroused by the admiration his girlfriend is drawing, Simon whisks her away for a passionate encounter as the men talk on.
Later in the evening, Grace awakes to find herself alone in the guestroom’s plush double bed, rumpled sheets around her and a rumble of male voices just discernible from the living room. Wrapping herself in a silken robe and creeping out to explore, she finds Simon and his friend Damien, a blue-eyed gentle giant, talking quietly on the leather sofa, the warm night air flooding in through the windows. Before they know it, the three are locked together in a physical encounter that surprises them all and proves just how accommodating a leather sofa can be.
Party of Three is an adventurous, naughty romp written with Grace’s pleasure and that of the female reader in mind and is the first in a trilogy about the threesomes Grace and Simon go on to explore.
It is intended for mature audiences.
