It names 238 places across 436 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries seventeen reports, narratives and plans and two diagrams. Among the papers are: Battle of the Aisne 14th September report by 1st South Wales Borderers; Summary of fighting 31st Oct-2nd Nov 1st Batt. South Wales Borderers; War Diary of the 24th (South Wales Borderers); 24th (South Wales Borderers); To O.C. 1st S. Wales Borderers. Preliminary order. The diary opens at Bordon on 4 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Outtersteene, Festubert, Bordon, Zillebeke and Havre. 1915 at Hingette, Burbure, Loos, Festubert and Givenchy. 1916 is the most travelled year, 109 places against 76 in the next busiest, and is spent at Les Brebis, Ferfay, Mametz Wood, Aigneville and Loos. 1917 at Le Clipon Camp, Fletre, Chuignolles and Becourt. 1918 at Kirchheim, Nouex-les-Mines And Cambrin, Support Area, Hohenzollern R. Sub-Sector and Noeux-Les-Mines to Pressy-Les-Pernes. 1919 at Binche and Antwerp. It closes at Antwerp on 11 June 1919. Le Clipon Camp is where it spent longest, 81 days, it came back to Loos eighteen separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 66 days at Kirchheim. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Mametz Wood, Miranda Chateau, Becourt Wood, Bazentin-Le-Petit Wood, Henencourt Wood, Lozenge Wood, Telegraph Farm and Albert Lozenge Wood Nr Fricourt.
