The Last Word

Year of 1211... England is ruled by King John, the most unpopular member of the great Plantagenet Dynasty. By now, the British Kingdom has lost its power, power obtained through the conquests of the great kings: William the Conqueror, Henry I, Henry II and the illustrious Richard the Lionheart. Brittany, Normandy, and Aquitaine are taken by French king. Yearning to reclaim this power, John has turned his greedy gaze on his closest neighbors. After successfully subduing the Irish and Scotts, he invades Wales - a consolidation of a few Welsh kingdoms. Through lies and through cunning, John wins over the princes of Deheubarth and Powys, so they will help him to bring down the Prince of Gwynedd - his own rebellious son-in-law, Llywelyn The Great. In the events of this period emerge the heroes of the novel. The story builds on the foundation of deeply researched historical facts. Love and hate, bravery and betrayal, kidnapping and escape, self-sacrifice and deadly cruelty are twisted together in this fast moving adventure.
