Mother Nature wants to kill us all. Her sister thinks she just needs to get out more.

Mona has a problem and their name is, Humans. She spent ages creating Earth, carefully balancing oceans, forests, wildlife, weather, and ecosystems into the perfect entrance project for university.

Then her twin sister, Penny, helped add humans.

Mona has regretted it ever since.

They pollute her oceans. Destroy her forests. Wipe out entire species. Fill the planet with plastic. And somehow they still have the audacity to call her natural disasters. As far as Mona is concerned, humanity has failed.

She is ready to press delete but when Penny disagrees, the sisters make a bet. Before Mona can decide the fate of the human race, she has to live as one of them and experience eight basic human emotions for herself. No hiding behind technology. No pausing when things get uncomfortable. No destroying anyone simply because they annoy her.

How difficult could it possibly be?

Then Mona wakes up in the Pacific Northwest, in a seventeen-year-old human body.

Almost immediately, she discovers that humans are even stranger up close.

Ice cream is incredible. Cars are terrifying. Libraries appear to be mass graves for trees. Alcohol is a terrible invention. Friendship is confusing. An eight-year-old named Oliver somehow becomes important to her before she realizes it's happening.

And then she meets his older brother, Noah.

Noah is kind, infuriatingly attractive, and capable of producing physical reactions Mona's advanced technology never prepared her for. The more time she spends with him, Oliver, and the people slowly becoming her friends, the harder it becomes to dismiss humanity as one destructive species deserving extinction.

Unfortunately, spending time with humans also shows Mona exactly how cruel, wasteful, painful, and complicated they can be.

Penny wanted her sister to understand humanity. But she may have succeeded a little too well.

Because Mona still gets the final vote.

Eight emotions. One human lifetime. One decision.

And when Mother Nature finally understands what it means to be human, she'll have to decide whether we're worth saving.

Or whether extinction was the right answer all along.

Mother Nature is a funny, heartfelt speculative fantasy about sisters, first love, friendship, environmental responsibility, grief, belonging, and an all-powerful creator discovering that humanity's greatest flaw may also be the thing that makes us worth keeping.

Saving the world is easy when you created it.

Living in it is considerably harder.
