Les civilisations � l'�preuve du climat

In this new work, the author presents an interesting analysis of climate's impact on the history of human society. How has climate changed? Can the link between climate change and the development of human societies be established? Why did some regions experience economic growth while others did not? The appearance of areas of civilization coincides with climate zones defined by three criteria: not too cold, not too warm, and with sufficient variations from year to year. Without denying that industrialization and progress in agriculture have made humans more independent of climatic effects, the author holds that climate will always, given the growth in world population, be an important factor in explaining this subject.
