On March 14, 1795, the life of Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer was tragically cut short by British forces, marking a pivotal moment in history. Just a year later, his people-the Garifuna-were forcibly exiled from their beloved homeland of Yurumein (St. Vincent). Despite the significance of these events, documentation of the Garifuna's struggles during this tumultuous period is scarce, leaving much to the imagination regarding how they endured and survived. This compelling fictional narrative seeks to illuminate the resilience and tenacity of the Garifuna people through the eyes of Zen, our courageous female protagonist. As a beacon of hope amidst overwhelming adversity, Zen leads her community toward safety while confronting formidable opposition from the British. Join us on this gripping journey that celebrates survival, strength, and the indomitable spirit of a people determined to reclaim their identity and heritage.
