At forty-six, Courtney Wise thought she had life figured out. Twenty-five years of happy marriage to Stan ended abruptly when he had the "audacity" to die in his sleep beside her. Now, Courtney is a widow, lost and completely alone. Thankfully, her supportive friend, Barb Meadows, steps in to help her maintain her sanity and push her toward a new beginning: starting a business. Her fake company catches the eye of Trevor Sumner, a divorced Georgia state trooper eager to improve his marksmanship. Trevor, ten years her junior, hires her on the spot. Their relationship takes off faster than his shooting skills, challenging Courtney to face her new reality. She must overcome the guilt of dating after marriage and accept the simple fact of their age difference. More critically, she must transition from suburban housewife to the girlfriend of a man whose daily life involves a dangerous, violent world. Can Courtney embrace her new identity as The Shootist and commit to a life less safe, but intensely real?
